What's New @ Troop 61?

  • Next weekly meeting is this Wednesday, 6:30-8pm. Next campout is May 18-19. Next Board of Review is Wednesday, May 15th, 4pm.  UV Open House for new scouts to join is this Tuesday, April 16th, 6:30-7:30pm at UV.

  • April 13-14 winter cmpout was in the leanto at Roger's in Sherburne.  The March campout was at the State Forest leanto off CR 29.  February winter campout was at the outpost in South New Berlin.

  • January 31st, Troop 61 inducted 2 new scouts.  Welcome Ariel and Mason.  After the induction, the Court of Honor Awards Ceremony in cluded the 2023 "Gold Journey to Excellence", 10 Polar Bear patches, 5 merit badges, 3 ranks, Bowl-a-Thon patches, and Monti was awarded the 2023 "Troop 61 Scout of the Year" plaque.

  • Troop 61 took its largest group ever of 5 scouts and 5 adult volunteers to the "Blizzard Adventure" at Camp Kingsley outside Rome, NY, January 12-15.  Camping in tents for 4 days/3nights with fun in the snow/rain playing snow games while completing winter merit badges.  Snow biking at 9am each morning was the resounding favorite!!!

  • Monti, ASM Stein, SM Phillips and CC Phillips were awarded the Troop 61 "Year-a-Round Camper" award for 12 consecutive months camping in tents at the December Court of Honor and Christmas Party!!!

  • Congratulations Audin our newest Tenderfoot scout.

  • The December campout started at Lake Street Lanes for the Chenango District Bowl-a-Thon December 9th.  Troop 61's "Mystery Backpack" challenge started from there to the "mystery" destination for a fun evening of games. During the overnight a huge thunder storm developed that was loud enough to wake-up all the hibernating animals!!!  Our campout concluded with worship at NB's First United Methodist Church.

  • Narcotics Detective Davy from The Chenango County Sheriff's Department presented a spectaculerly informative talk on "Drug & Alcohol Addiction" complete with displays and artifacts at the November 29th troop meeting.

  • ASM's Stein and Torres completed the indoor adult leader training on Saturday, November 11th.  At the same time, Monti and Audin enjoyed the Astronomy merit badge sessions hosted by the fabulous Roberson Museum which houses both a planetarium and a train museum on Front Street in Binghamton!!!

  • Troop 61 served New Berlin by cleaning the business windows from the NBYC Halloween Window Painting on November 3rd before camping @ Millbrook. Our young troop enjoyed a breezy but dry overnight, made their first "silver turtles" and baked a peach cobbler in the Dutch Oven for dinner, built a fabulous campfire with their homemade fire starters, played some basketball, and made progress on rank requirements.  Thank you New Berlin for providing such a great facility for our monthly tent camping. Three adults and one scout completed their 11th consecutive month towards the coveted Troop 61 "Year-a-Round Camper" award which requires 12 consecutive months of tent camping!!!

  • The Court of Honor Awards Ceremony October 25th featured the Candlelight Induction Ceremony for new scouts.  Welcome Brantley and Mason.  Congratulations to Audin, Blake, and Shawn who earned the coveted and embroidered New Berlin Troop 61 neckerchief!!!  Monti received the Pets merit badge.  Shawn was the #1 Hike-a-Thon fundraiser!!!  Monti is leading the way with 10 consecutive months tent camping towards the fully embroidered New Berlin Troop 61 "Year-a-Round" Camping Award!!!

  • Great job Troop 61 serving at the Unadilla Valley Railroad Society & Museum (www.uvrs.org), 1-3pm (UVCS 1/2 day) on October 6th.  Thank you UVRS for the pizza!!!

  • Troop 61 completed the HIKE-A-THON fundraiser 5-mile hike October 6-7th between the rain drops while camping at Millbrook to raise funds for our 2024 fees and program costs.  Thank you everyone for your support of our scouts!!!

  • Welcome to Troop 61 Brantley..  Great job serving at the museum, hiking the 5-miler, and surviving the rain on your first campout!!!

  • Thank you Dr. Lisa Johnson, DVM for helping us complete the Pets merit badge October 4th.

  • September 15-16 campout @ Camp Tuscarora's "Shooting Sports Day" included a V.I.P. tour of the camp, great fishing, a lot of GAGA ball, archery, Totin' Chip training by ASM Joanis, and Hayden & Liam's delicious "bacon macaroni and cheese" dinner!!!

  • The Troop 61 Court of Honor Ceremony on September 13th recognized each scout's summer achievements. Six scouts completed the "Dan Beard Society" scout skills program for first year scouts while earning 9 merit badges at summer camp.  Troop 61 was awarded a flagpole ribbon as one of only 4 troops to achieve "Honor Unit" status at camp.  Each scout and adult who helped the troop earn the ribbon also received a monogrammed Swiss Army pocket knife!! Scouts received patches for leading the food drive for the New Berlin Food Pantry.  Our honored guests were Paul Straney and Tom Deforest from the Unadilla Valley Railroad Society & Museum (www.uvrs.org) headquartered on Railroad Street here in New Berlin.  The museum is a prominent stop on the new New Berlin Historical Trail.  On May 6th, 50+ scouts completed the inaugural historical trail hike which  featured a tour and presentation at both the train museum and the museum at the library.  Thank you Paul and Tom for your partnership with Troop 61!!!

  • 6 first year scouts attended summer camp July 30-August 5.  ALL 6 completed the first year skills program "Dan Beard Society".  In addition, Troop 61 finished 9 merit badges!  Troop 61 was one of only 4 troops awarded the "Honor Unit" award for enthusiastic participation by adults and scouts at ALL the campwide activities.  The highlight of the week was Friday's tubing behind a motor boat on the lake!!!

  • On Friday, July 14, Troop 61 served with the American Legion as part of the "Retiring American Flags Ceremony" which included the proper burning of several hundred worn out American flags.

  • Congratulations scouts who were recognized at the June 24th Court of Honor Awards Ceremony with their next rank: Monti-Tenderfoot, Blake and Shawn-Scout Badge.  The Troop 61 Year-end picnic also recognized the community service of our scouts this spring at the Fish & Game Club, Memorial Day Observances, Food Drive for the New Berlin Food Pantry, painting fire hydrants on Community Day, and the Soap Box Derby with PathFinder participants. Thank you NBYC (https://www.nbyouthcenter.org/) for hosting Troop 61's picnic.

  • Thank you Dr. Lisa Johnson DVM for leading merit badge classes June 24th for both the Pets and Dog Care merit badge.  Summer time is a great time for our scouts to complete these requirements!!!

  • Thank you Troop 61 for serving Saturday, May 20, at the NB Fish and Game Club as part of Eagle Scout Deegan's final requirement for "Quartermaster" - the highest rank in Sea Scouting.  Deegan is currently attending college in Binghamton and is a member of the Sea Scout Ship in Ithaca.  Only 3-4% complete the rank of Eagle Scout so completing both Eagle Scout and Quartermaster is extremely rare.  Congratulations Deegan!!!  And thank you for the slide show at our May 24th meeting.

  • 7 new scouts were inducted into Troop 61 at the May 10th Court of Honor Awards.  Congratulations Audin, Daniel, Hayden, and Liam D. who completed and received their first rank - the Scout Badge.

  • May 5-7 Troop 61 hosted the Millbrook Invitational Encampment which included troop competitions and the new New Berlin Historical Trail. 52 scouts and scouters attended from 3 councils - Longhouse, Leatherstocking, and Baden-Powell Councils.  Troop 61 took home the top patrol prize for teamwork!!!! Thank you to the NB Library & Museum and the NB Train Museum for opening after hours to share your historical treasures as part of the historical trail hike.  Both the Evening Sun and NB Gazette featured the article, "New Berlin Scouts Win First Place" on May 19th.

  • April 21-22 was the very first campout for Troop 61's seven new scouts at Millbrook.  On Saturday Troop 61 served at the NB Earth Day by painting fire hydrants in the village!!!

  • April 11 Spring Recruitment at UVCS started at 2:30pm with an assembly for the 5th-6th grade boys.  Lots of questions and excitement followed Liam's talk and the summer camp video.  8 boys brought their parent/guardian to join, learn more, and shoot at the archery inflatable at the 6pm "open house" hosted by UVCS.  The school hallways were filled with excitement as families shot archery, tied knots, saw camping displays, enjoyed food, and heard more about the Troop 61 Scouting Adventure.

  • Cool Klondike Sled Backpacking @ Hunt's Pond & University of Scouting @ Tompkins Cortland Community College March 16-18.  Caught a cooking pot while ice fishing - A FIRST!!!

  • HUGE Scouting weekend February 17-19 with a campout, an evening of arcade games, completion of the troop equipment shed, Colgate University Hockey Game, and Scout Sunday @ the Methodist Church.

  • Great fun @ Feb. 1st meeting as SM Phillips brought tea, newspapers, stories, etc... from India.

  • Troop 61 "Polar Bear" patches were awarded to Liam, Monti, ASM Hoag, ASM Stein, CC Phillips, and SM Phillips who camped in tents at "Blizzard Adventure" January 13-16.  Each morning the temperature was below 20 degrees!!!

  • Congratulations Landen and Monti on earning the Troop 61 neckerchief via the fall hike-a-thon fundraiser.

  • The 2022 Bowl-a-Thon and Hike-a-Thon fundraisers resulted in $1,570.  Each scout who raised over $100 receives the coveted Troop 61 neckerchief and their 2023 registration fees.  All monies over $100 are split between the troop and the scout's personal fund to pay for their activity fees in 2023!!!

  • The November 11-12 campout saw Troop 61 braving the storm called "Nicole" while tent camping at Millbrook.  In between each rain surge Blake, Landen, and Monti completed their five-mile hike fundraiser.  Fortunately the storm took a break during dinner and the first part of the evening before returning with a vengeance at 2am.  We stayed dry in our tents but the rain made for a very noisy sleep.  Thank you New Berlin for providing such a fabulous pavilion that kept us dry during the storm while we learned new scout skills on a balmy 61 degree day.

  • Troop 61 hosted the 2022 Chenango Bowl-a-Thon, November 12th, at Lake Street Lanes.  24 people attended from 4 troops including Greene, Harpursville, New Berlin, and Sherburne.  The event was designed to be a membership rally to "retain, recruit, and reward".  Matching grants towards 2023 joining fees were awarded by Rapp Subaru and Norwich Dodge Chrysler Jeep.

  • Congratulations Monti for completing the Scout rank November 9th.

  • At the November 9th Court of Honor Awards Ceremony, 5 merit badges and 5 ranks were recognized since the last COH.

  • Congratulations Tyler and Monti for completing the Geology merit badge at the Herkimer Diamond Mines on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

  • Great FUN at UVCS T61 Fall "Open House" with the archery, s'mores, & displays October 5th.  Check out the pictures on the Troop 61 Facebook page!!!

  • Great start on our new storage shed September 28th.

  • Congratulations Liam on completing and receiving the rank of Tenderfoot September 21st.

  • Fun first campout at the Wintons' new campgrounds in West Edmeston September 17-18 followed by church at St. Andrew's.

  • Great work Landen, ASM Joanis, and ASM Wessels serving at the NBYC dedication August 28th, 2022.

  • Landen completed 3 merit badges and Brent completed the Scoutmaster training at SUMMER CAMP July 31-August 6th.

  • Our first troop swim @ UVCS was Wednesday, July 13th, 6-7pm.  Thank you Kylie for being the lifeguard and doing our BSA swim test.

  • Congratulations Blake, Landen, and Thomas for completing the Scout Badge as their first rank in Scouting.  Thank you Mr. Joanis for hosting our Annual Picnic & Court of Honor Awards Ceremony on June 29th.

  • New Berlin Scout Troop inducted new officers on June 29th.  Thomas is Assistant Patrol Leader. Landen is Troop Scribe.  Blake is Troop Quartermaster.  Thank you all for agreeing to serve our troop and patrol!!!

  • Fabulous "Annual Planning Meeting" June 23rd @ NBYC.  Many of the dates are already on the calendar.  Check out Troop 61's full schedule of 2022-2023 events under the "CALENDER" tab.

  • Scouts completed the Derby/campout weekend by serving at the Antique Auction benefitting the new New Berlin Youth Center at 34 North Main Street on Saturday, June 18th.  Thank you Roger Wheeler for serving as our auctioneer!  NY Pizzeria served-up their usual FABULOUS PIZZA at both events!!!

  • New Berlin hosted scouts from Morris and Sherburne June 17th for the 2022 SOAP BOX DERBY and then enjoyed camping together at Millbrook.  Robert from Morris Troop 3 was the fastest racer down Moss Street.  Our friends from Pathfinder Village raced with us again.  The race concluded with Peter and Elaine Lennon navigating the track!!!

  • Thank you Dick Ackerman, Jim Mosely, and Sarah Phillips for conducting the NB Troop 61 Board of Reviews on June 15th so our scouts can advance in rank.  Next Court of Honor Awards Ceremony is June 29th at our Family Picnic!!!

  • NB Troop 61 inducted 4 new Assistant Scoutmasters on June 14, 2022.  Welcome Garrett Cook (SNB Eagle Scout), Matt Harrington, Cait Kinch, and Brent Wessels.

  • NB Troop 61 inducted 4 new scouts on May 4th.  Welcome Blake, Landin, Thomas, and Tyler.

  • Millbrook Encampment, April 29-May 1, 2022 was great FUN as troops from Morris, Sherburne, and New Berlin camped together at Millbrook.  Highlights included: Opening Ceremony with NB Mayor-General Peter Lennon (NB Eagle Scout 1970) as speaker, morning teamwork competitions won by Morris Troop 3, and an afternoon hike around the lake picking-up litter.

  • Calling ALL EAGLE SCOUTS of New Berlin Troop 61.  We need you on Saturday, April 30th, to help host the Millbrook Encampment.

  • Congratulations Thomas, Tyler, and Blake of our AOL Webelos Den for completing the Cast Iron Chef Adventure Award under the leadership of  Liam, the Den Chief from Troop 61.  We look forward to your crossover next month into Boy Scout Troop 61 as members of the "Dark Foxes" patrol!!!

  • The Adult Committee of New Berlin Scout Troop 61 met March 17th at Jim Moseley's house.  Next meeting is Wednesday, April 20th, 3pm, and all parents and interested adults are invited.

  • Fun meeting March 27th as our troop helped the Webelos AOL Den complete the Cast Iron Chef Adventure pin by making s'mores at Millbrook.

  • The March campout began at Tompkins-Cortland Community College with training on Saturday, March 19th, as part of the "University of Scouting".  Scouts reported that the "best" session was on "survival camping and fire building".  T61 scouts earned the "Troop 61 Polar Bear" award when the temperature dipped to 12 degrees.

  • "Blizzard Adventure" at Camp Kingsley, February 25-27, had great snow, great food, and great FUN.  Our troop learned automobile maintenance in the mornings and went cross country skiing in the afternoons.  Evening campfires were disappointing as we lost the "ugly sweater" competition for the first time.  Tent camping was easy as the temperature stayed above zero this year!!!

  • Troop 61 hosted a "Pizza Party Gym Nite" at U.V.C.S., February 16th, for Cub Scout Pack 61 that 21 people attended.  Baden-Powell Council provided a "Safe Archery" inflatable.  The elementary school principal, Katie Hansen, brought out the parachute.  Scoutmaster Phillips led relay games.  NY Pizzeria provided pizza.  Troop 61 put up camping displays including a tent, a pretend campfire with s'mores, knot tying, camp stove cooking, and...  All 4th and 5th grade students were invited for a FABULOUS FUN TIME!!!

  • February 6th was National Scout Sunday.  Thank you Pat Houghton and the members of St. Theresa's Church for hosting our troop and for letting us serve during worship.  Troop 61's JANUARY campout preceded Scout Sunday and was another great winter campout at Millbrook in our cozy tents Feb. 5-6 after school was canceled due to snow Feb. 4th.The T61 Polar Bear Award was earned by ALL.

  • Thank you Mayor Lennon for coming to the troop and webelos meeting January 26th.  You gave us all a better understanding of what the difference is between the village and town governments and the services each provides.

  • Jan. 5 First weekly meeting of 2022 - Happy New Year!!! 

  • FUN, FUN, FUN was the theme of T61's DECEMBER weekend, December 17-18, 2021.  During a rare Friday night campout, cheeseburgers were prepared by Bryce, dishes were cleaned by Kasen, and Liam had the fire duties that led to the infamous chocolate chocolate chocolate s'mores.  Saturday started with a hail storm that pelted our tents at 5am for 12 minutes.  The outing concluded with the Chenango District Bowl-a-Thon hosted by T61 at Lake Street Lanes and attended by 34 people from 4 units in spite of the threatening winter weather conditions.

  • Dick Ackerman has been approved as the 220th recipient in NY State of the prestigious Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award for his 70+ years in New Berlin Scouting.  A beautifully engraved letter from the Grand Master of the NY Lodge has been received.  We look forward to an elaborate ceremony of celebration this summer when all of Dick's family can attend!!!

  • At the monthly Court of Honor Awards Ceremony, December 1st, Michelle Priola, New Berlin Library Director, was recognized for her support of Troop 61 and for the Library's partnership with Troop 61 in the "Reach, Read, and Reward Raffle" that realized over 400 food items for the New Berlin Food Pantry.  "Hyde Park" was the winner in the raffle drawing.  Jared, the head of the Village DPW, exclaimed that Troop 61's leaf raking of Hyde Park was "so much better than he ever expected".

  • Troop 61 elected Liam as Patrol Leader and the patrol selected "Dark Foxes" as their patrol name.  Liam appointed Bryce as his Assistant Patrol Leader and Kasen as the Troop Scribe.

  • Hike-a-Thoners Liam, Bryce, and Kasen received their Troop 61 neckerchiefs which they earned by meeting their fundraising goals.

  • The November 20-21 campout included Troop 61's annual door-to-door Food Drive for the New Berlin Food Pantry AND the raking of leaves at Hyde Park as the winner of the Reach, Read, and Rake Raffle.

  • Bryce, Kasen, Liam, and Logan received their first rank, the Scout Badge, at the November 10th Court of Honor!!!

  • At the November 10th Court of Honor Awards Ceremony, Troop 61 honored the American Legion with a presentation of the new Troop 61 flag and the new Troop 61 bulletin board - both have the Frank H. Arnold American Legion Post 348 inscription!!!

  • Congratulations Liam who was elected Patrol Leader for the Bald Eagle Patrol and Bryce who was appointed Assistant Patrol Leader.

  • Congratulations Troop 61 who raised $400 via the Fall Hike-a-Thon.

  • First monthly Court of Honor Awards ceremony honoring the American Legion as Troop 61's new chartering organization was  Wednesday, November 10th, 6-7:30pm @ the American Legion. 

  • Thank you Tom Ackerman and the NB Fish & Game Club for teaching Troop 61 gun safety on Saturday, October 30, 2021.  Our OCTOBER campout started on the firing range.  Thank you Troop 61 for cleaning-up the trail around Millbrook Lake by collecting garbage as you hiked on Saturday, October 30th as part of T61's monthly campout.  Congratulations Bryce, Kasen, Liam, Logan, ASM Joanis, ASM Hoag, and CC Phillips for completing the 5-mile hike as part of the 2021 Hike-a-Thon fundraiser.  T61 completed the weekend by attending worship @ St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

  • ALL SCOUTING FAMILIES ARE INVITED SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 7PM FOR S'MORES @ MILLBROOK!!!

  • Webelos "Arrow of Light" Den (5th graders) meets each Wednesday @ 6pm at the American Legion starting October 27th.  Congratulations Cengiz and Tyler on the completion of the Bobcat Award on October 27, 2021!!!

  • ALL boys ages 5-10 are welcome to join Cub Scout Pack 61 - Wednesday, October 20, 6pm, at UVCS.

  • Troop 61 will help with the recruitment of Cub Scout Pack 61's re-start after Covid. Pack 61 meets at UVCS.  The Cub Scout rally will be Wednesday, October 20th, 6pm.

  • New Berlin Troop 61 welcomed 6 new scouts in September 2021!!!

  • Kevin Phillips (Troop 61's Eagle Scout Class of 1975) has been selected by the American Legion as the new Scoutmaster of Troop 61.  We welcome him back after the shut-down during Covid.  The front page article in the September 2, 2021 edition of the Evening Sun is recorded in the "NEWS ARCHIVES" under the "ABOUT US" tab.

  • Troop 61's new home is the Frank H. Arnold American Legion Post #348, 6 Academy Street, New Berlin.  Troop 61 meets weekly on Wednesdays at the Legion, 6-7:30pm (except the Wednesdays following a campout) AND tent camps every month.

  • New Berlin Troop 61 hosted the 2019 Soap Box Derby on Moss Street June 15th.  Congratulations Conner on First Place and Christopher on Second Place trophies!!!

  • Thank you ASM Joanis and Christopher for serving as the Honor Guard for the retiring of over 100 American flags with the American Legion on June 7th.

  • Good job Troop 61 setting new flags in the cemetary with the American Legion on May 21 and parading with our flags on Memorial Day.

  • 109 attended the 2019 Millbrook Encampment hosted by New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 as part of our 75th anniversary celebration.  The opening ceremony recognized Troop 61's Eagle Scouts: those present included Ken Wiggins (1966), Steven Dunshee (1967), Peter Lennon (1970), Kevin Phillips (1975), and Dan Caruso (2004).  Competitions focused on scout skills and teamwork. New Berlin Fire Department, Ambulance Squad, and LifeNet's helicopter provided demonstrations.  Charley Koop spoke on animal rescue/rehabilitation and introduced Dusty the falcon to the scouts.

  • Thank you Ken Wiggins for teaching our troop the Fire Safety merit badge.  We loved the fire house and EMS communication center tours.  We are better prepared after doing a safety inspection and practicing a fire drill at home!

  • Scout Sunday was February 3rd. Thank you St Theresa's for such a warm welcome.  Danny Johnson's Eagle Scout Project display was exceptional.  Scoutmaster Phillips preached at First United Methodist and no one fell asleep!!!

  • Thank you Colgate for the FREE hockey tickets on January 25th.

  • Fabulous Blizzard Adventure 3-night campout, January 18-21, at Scout Camp Kingsley, just north of Rome, NY. 7 scouts and 2 adults from Troops 5 and 61 joined 100+ others in winter sports, merit badge sessions, and, and, and... Our troops were the only ones tent camping!!!  Waking-up to 6 degree temps on Saturday morning meant all qualified for the Polar Bear Award.  A foot of snow greeted us Sunday morning.  We moved inside Sunday night as temps dipped to -12 and wind chills to -30.  Our scouts completed 12 merit badges, Jordan won the "ugly sweater" competition, and our chili took second place!!!

  • Congratulations New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 on completing the 2018 Bronze Journey to Excellence Award for meeting weekly, camping monthly, serving regularly, and advancing sufficiently.  Impressive achievement as the troop was only operating for 4 months in 2018.

  • Congratulations Christopher on completing the Cyber Chip Award and the rank of Scout Badge December 11.

  • Thank you Norwich Evening Sun for featuring our 75th Anniversary plans in 2019 on the front page November 26th and the New Berlin Gazette on November 30th.  The text of both articles is recorded under the "About Us" tab above.

  • Thank you Officer John Lowe, New Berlin Police Department and Unadilla Valley Central School Safety Officer, for speaking at Troop 61 November 13.
  • Cub Scout Pack 61 and Boy Scout Troop 61 collected 512 food items at our Annual "Scouting for Food" Drive, Saturday, Nov. 3.  Thank you New Berlin for your support of Scouting and the New Berlin Food Pantry!!!

  • Unusual weather for our monthly campout, Nov. 3-4, at Millbrook.  Started in the rain, then sun, then HAIL with lots of WIND, before a beautiful evening under the stars around the campfire!!!  Our event ended with worship at the Methodist Church on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 11am.  Thank you for the warm welcome at church!!!

  • The Troop 61 Hike-a-Thon was October 20 and raised over $800!!!

  • Sweet meeting, Tuesday, September 25, with the first Troop 61 Candlelight Induction Ceremony and the distribution of uniform shirts.  Welcome new ASM Joanis who joins our Scoutmaster team of SM Phillips and ASM Schoener!!!

  • Welcome Myron Phillips, Sarah Phillips, and Ken Wiggins to our new Troop 61 Committee.  Our scouts are already benefitting from your wealth of Scouting experience, resources, and WISDOM!!!

  • The FIRST CAMPOUT of the new New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 was September 15-16 @ Milbrook and concluded with worship @ St Andrews!!!  Thank you Town of New Berlin for your support of Troop 61 through the use of the beautiful Millbrook Rectreation Area!!!  Great meals cooked by Lucas, Conner, and Christopher.  Collected 8 bags of trash around the lake as our service project.   Enjoyed an AMAZING STAR-FILLED SKY at the campfire.  Thank you Doc for the Apple Cobbler!!!  The campout was immortalized in the September 21 New Berlin Gazette complete with a picture of our scouts playing in the lake!!!

  • The FIRST MEETING of the new New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 was September 10, 6-7:30pm, at St. Andrews Church.  New charter includes 5 scouts and 5 adults!!!

  • Enjoyed Syracuse University Football Game on Sept. 8th with FREE tickets!!! Thank you Preferred Mutual for donating the tickets and for supporting Troop 61 so well through the years!!!

     Troop 61 celebrated 75 Eagle Scouts in 75 years in 2018-2019.

Thank you St. Andrews Episcopal Church for chartering Boy Scout Troop 61 for 75 consecutive years!!!  After a ten-year hiatus, Troop 61 was chartered again by St. Andrews from 2018-2019.  The Frank H. Arnold American Legion Post #348 of New Berlin has chartered Troop 61 since 2021 (after covid).
