New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 is a new Boy Scout troop with a rich history.
At first the troop met in the "old Hyde house" on North Main Street where Robert Beardsley became the first Eagle Scout in New Berlin in 1929.
St. Andrews Episcopal Church chartered Boy Scout Troop 61 from 1936-2011.
From 2011-2018, Troop 61 did not charter with the BSA's Baden-Powell Council.
On September 10, 2018 the new New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 began with 5 scouts and 5 adults under the leadership of Scoutmaster Kevin Phillips.
New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 celebrated its 75th Anniversary by hosting the 2019 Millbrook Encampment (attended by 109 scouts and adults), May 3-5, and the 2019 Soap Box Derby race down Moss Street on June 15th. At both events our 75 Eagle Scouts in 75 years were highlighted!!!
During Covid Troop 61 was again dormant.
On September 8, 2021 Boy Scout Troop 61's adult committee met and completed all the paperwork to charter Troop 61 with the Frank H. Arnold American Legion Post #348. That evening Troop 61 held its first fall meeting with 5 scouts, 4 Assistant Scoutmasters, the Scoutmaster, and 3 Committee Members.
Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023 T61 serves as color guard, Civil War Dedication, Morris Cementery, 10am.
